Shinnie joins Dundee

Rangers reserve midfielder Andrew Shinnie is to join Dundee on a loan deal until January.

The 19-year-old made two first team appearances for the Ibrox club last year, both as a late substitute.

And Shinnie was captain of Rangers’ Under-19 side that won the league and cup double last season.

Meanwhile, Dundee manager Jocky Scott has rewarded teenage defender Kyle Benedictus with a new contract after his promotion to the top team.

The 16-year-old has played in three matches since Scott took over at the end of October.

“We’ve got Kyle tied up on a new contract, it’s a better one and an extended one,” Scott told the club website.

“I see a big future for him, hence the reason why I’ve put him on the new contract, he’s shown me a lot of potential to become a right good player.

“He’s done very well in the three games he’s been involved in, I’m not getting carried away about it but the potential he’s shown deserves a bit of a boost and that’s what we’ve given him.”

Forest target Burke

CHRIS BURKE’S time at Rangers could be drawing to a close with Nottingham Forest ready to mount a bid

 in January.

The winger was watched by Forest chief scout Keith Burt during yesterday’s reserve clash with Inverness.

Ibrox boss Walter Smith would be prepared to cut his losses on the player who earns s12,000 a week and has struggled to get into the first team after returning from a long-term ankle injury.

But with Forest in trouble at the foot of the English Championship, Burke may prefer to hang around despite Rangers looking to free up a substantial drain on their wage bill.

Gers kid Andrew Shinnie, 19, is likely to be loaned out to Dundee next week.

Le Darche keen on Marseille move

Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville has declared that he wants to move back to his native France after 

reported interest from Marseille.

It would seem Rangers would not stand in Darcheville’s way as the arrival of strikers Kenny Miller, KyleLafferty, Andrius Velicka and the return to form of Kris Boyd have sent the Frenchman down the Ibrox pecking order.

Darcheville told the French press: “There is no doubt Marseille will always be a legendary club. I’m not sure I could refuse that kind of offer.”

Rangers boss Walter Smith is rumoured to be looking to trim his squad in the January transfer window and as the 33-year-old signed a new two-year deal in June last year Smith will look to receive a cash deal for the player.

Darchville, who joined the club at the beginning of last season, became an instant hit with the fans and played an important part in helping Rangers to the UEFA Cup final.

Marsielle want Bougherra

RANGERS will reject any moves from Marseille for Madjid Bougherra.

He has excelled since arriving from Charlton in August for £2.5million and is an integral part of Walter Smith’s plans.

The French side have £3m set aside for a new centre-half, but Smith has said no key players will leave in January.

WBA back in for Thomson

WEST BROM will go back in for Rangers’ Kevin Thomson in the January transfer window.

The midfielder was a target for Tony Mowbray in the summer and the Midlands club have been monitoring developments since.

The return of Barry Ferguson from long-term injury plus the signings of Pedro Mendes and Steve Davis may reduce Thomson’s chances of a regular game at Ibrox. The right transfer fee could tempt Rangers to part with the player they bought from Hibs for £2million 18 months ago.

Thomson has recently had to contend with becoming the victim of mindless vandalism, having had his car daubed with slogans in Edinburgh.

Last week in an interview with Record Sport, he told how he hoped not to become part of the Old Firm goldfish bowl.

He said: “If I wanted to draw attention to myself I could. But I’m a quiet-living guy.”

West Brom have made a decent start to the Premiership after winning promotion last season but last Saturday’s 4-0 hammering from Manchester United convinced Mowbray new signings are necessary.

He said: “We know the positions that need to be addressed and we’ll be doing that in January.”

Hemdani wants to go

BRAHIM Hemdani last night revealed he must now leave Rangers in search of a fresh challenge.
The Algerian midfielder has been frozen out at Ibrox this season by manager Walter Smith. Hemdani has fallen down the pecking order even further after the arrivals of Pedro Mendes, Steven Davis and Maurice Edu. 

Rangers tried to offload the midfielder, who earns around £16,000-per-week, to Turkish club Kocaelispor before the transfer window closed. But a move failed to go through, leaving the 30-year-old facing the prospect of reserve football until the market opens again in January.

And last night Hemdani admitted his love affair with Rangers will have to come to an end if he can agree a pay-off for the remainder of his Ibrox deal.

He said: “I think the time has come for me to get a change of air. I have nothing more to prove in Scotland.

“If no offers arises then I will be forced to see out the final year of year of my contract and remain at the club.”

Cousin Joins Hull

Hull City have wrapped up the signing of Rangers striker Daniel Cousin for an undisclosed fee.

Cousin only joined the Gers from Lens 12 months ago, but has been repeatedly tipped to leave Ibrox.

Only Fifa red tape prevented the Gabon international from signing for Fulham in the January transfer window.

He admitted over the summer that he remained keen on a move to the Premier League after appearing to fall out of favour at Ibrox.

However, he earned a surprise recall for Sunday’s Old Firm derby with Celtic, during which he scored in the 4-2 win.

Though Cousin was also sent off at Parkhead, his impressive display did not damage his prospects of joining Hull.

Rangers have confirmed that the forward has now completed a permanent switch to the KC Stadium ahead of the transfer deadline.

Gow Joins Blackpool on Loan

Rangers’ Alan Gow has finally left Ibrox and signed a short term loan deal with Blackpool until January 1.

The Seasiders have the option of buying the player for a pre-arranged fee if the player impresses during his short stint with the club.

Gow moves to Blackpool after initially turning down a move to the Lancashire club earlier in the day.

The attacking midfielder, who moved from Falkirk, has failed to hold down a regular first team place and with the arrival of Daniel Cousin and Jean-Claude Darcheville, Gow found it almost impossible to break into the first team.

HULL in for COUSIN

Hull are hoping to sign Rangers striker Daniel Cousin in a deadline day move, skysports.com understands.

The Tigers have made their move for Cousin following his impressive showing in Sunday’s Old Firm derby win over Celtic.

The powerful forward scored a superb solo goal before later being sent off for a second bookable offence.

Hull boss Phil Brown is keen to bolster his attack before the transfer window slams shut and he is hoping to push through a deal for Cousin.

Cousin has been expected to leave Rangers all summer after falling out of favour before his surprise inclusion in the side against Celtic.

Rangers are now weighing up whether or not to sell Cousin following his return to form at the weekend.

Cousin’s agent, Willie McKay, confirmed Hull are interested and that it all depends on Rangers.

“Hull have expressed an interest in Cousin and we are now waiting to hear from Rangers to see what they want to do with him,” McKay told skysports.com.

Blackpool bid for Gow

BLACKPOOL will try to complete the signing of Rangers midfielder Alan Gow before the midnight transfer deadline – but the deal is under serious threat after a rival bid from Hearts.
The Seasiders have had no problems agreeing a six-figure fee with the Scottish Premier League giants – the real challenge is persuading Gow to come to England.

Asked about the possibility of a transfer deadline day signing, Blackpool boss Simon Grayson replied: “We are close to maybe doing a deal.”

It is understood that if the Gow deal falls through Grayson has another target lined up.

However, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder – who has never played outside Scotland, with Falkirk, Airdrie and Clydebank his former clubs – features highly on his wanted list.

Gow joined his boyhood heroes Rangers on a three-year deal last summer after hitting the headlines at Falkirk for a run of impressive form, but his spell at Ibrox has been unhappy.

Walter Smith has failed to select Gow for a single league game and the Glasgow-born player has been linked with a move to a number of clubs.

He almost went to Burnley as part of the £3m deal which took Clarets frontman Kyle Lafferty to Rangers but decided he didn’t want to go to Turf Moor.

Gow also turned down the chance of a move to Norwich after the Canaries had a £250,000 bid accepted.

The Seasiders have offered a similar amount to Rangers, and with Smith keen to offload Gow and use the funds to strengthen other areas of his team it has been accepted.

However, persuading Gow to move south could be a major issue.
