    Burke completes Cardiff switch

    January 9th, 2009

Scotland winger Chris Burke has completed his move from

Rangers to Cardiff City on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old, who has two caps for his country, is a former player of the year at Ibrox, but illness and injury have restricted his recent appearances.

Burke had a rare first-team outing against Inverness at the weekend and passed medical in Cardiff on Thursday.

The Bluebirds were looking to quickly replace loan signing Wayne Routledge, who left Ninian Park for QPR last week.

Burke, who is out of contract in the summer, has made just two substitute appearances for Rangers this season.

Newcastle, Sunderland, Bolton and Wigan want Bougherra

    January 8th, 2009

The interest in Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra is mounting, skysports.com understands.

Rangers have insisted that they do not want to let the Algerian international leave Ibrox just over six months after he signed for them.

Bougherra arrived in the summer from Charlton and he has made a huge impact.

However, his excellent form has caught the attention of a host of clubs south of the border, and a number of Premier League side are ready to test Rangers’ resolve.

It is believed a bid of around £4million could tempt the Scottish giants into selling and they are bracing themselves for a number of bids.

Newcastle are known admirers of the 26-year-old and are ready to make a move, but they are not the only interested party.

Sunderland, Bolton and Wigan are also ready believed to be gearing up bids.

Chris Burke transfer to Cardif City

    January 8th, 2009

Scotland and Rangers winger Chris Burke is thought to be close to agreeing a move to Cardiff City.

The 25-year-old, who has two caps, is a former player of the year at Ibrox, but illness and injury over the last few seasons have restricted his chances.

The Bluebirds have refused to comment on the possible move, which could be worth around £150,000.

Cardiff are looking to quickly replace loan signing Wayne Routledge, who left Ninian Park for QPR last week.

Rangers are known to be off-loading fringe players after a terrible European campaign.

Burke has made just two substitute appearances for Rangers this season, meaning a move to Championship high-fliers Cardiff could appeal to him.
