Kjartan Finnbogason returns to the Falkirk bench against Rangers at home on Saturday as he has recovered from a knee injury.
Pedro Pele will make his first start but prospective signing Toufik Zerara still awaits international clearance.
Maurice Edu and Kirk Broadfoot are edging closer to a return for Rangers but this game comes too soon.
Midfielder Pedro Mendes is still out of action with a knee injury and Jerome Rothen remains sidelined with illness.
Falkirk manager Eddie May:
“Rangers have been up against it on numerous occasions in the last few years.
“Walter Smith’s got the best out of them and that’s why he’s the best manager in Scotland.
“We’ll need to be at our best. But if we get a result it’s because Falkirk are good enough and not because Rangers are poor.
“We can beat them if we have belief, move the ball quickly and work hard for each other.”
Rangers manager Walter Smith:
“This is a big game for us as it kicks off a month where we have a lot of extremely tough matches.
“Falkirk had a massive turnover of staff in the summer but now they seem to be settling down.
“The 3-3 draw with Celtic would indicate that and we expect nothing other than a tough match.
“I’m hoping we get a really good reaction after last week’s defeat in Aberdeen.”
