He replaces the injured Kenny Miller up front for Rangers, while Steven Naismith takes over from John Fleck on the left of midfield.

Falkirk goalkeeper Robert Olejnik has been dropped after a poor display at the weekend.

Dani Mallo, the former Sporting Braga who signed on Thursday, has been handed his debut.

Falkirk: Olejnik, Holden, Barr, Pressley, Bullen, Scobbie, Arfield, McBride, O’Brien, McCann, Lovell, Mallo, Riera, Higdon, Cregg, Barrett.

Rangers manager Walter Smith
“Recently, they have changed the way they play, but we are all aware of that aspect and I don’t think there is very much that teams in Scotland can do to surprise each other.

“We are all well enough versed in how we think the other team is going to play. Falkirk have always given us a tough game and I don’t see it being any different.

“Most of the teams this season have had little spells where things haven’t been going too well for them and I think this is Falkirk’s period.

“They look as though they are coming out of that now and will look at the game as one that can give them a boost and lift their players and that makes it even more dangerous for our players.”

Falkirk head coach John Hughes
“I’m delighted the semi-final’s being played at the national stadium.

“I think all semi-finals should be played there and I’m delighted we’re playing Rangers, or one half of the Old Firm anyway, because they bring a right good fan base and create a right good atmosphere.

“We’ve played Rangers twice this season and we’ve played them two different ways. We’ve been unlucky not to have taken anything from the games.

“But, if we’re going to beat Rangers, we’re going to have to catch them on a right bad day and we’ll have to be at our best.”
